Internships

Learning the discipline and clarity that good lawyering demands

An internship at Metalegal is meant to give law students and recent graduates a real understanding of how legal work is done. You will not be doing token tasks. You will research, write, analyse, observe strategy discussions, and see how lawyers prepare for hearings, advisory work, investigations and corporate matters. The goal is simple: to help you grow into a thoughtful, reliable lawyer with a strong foundation.

We look for interns who are serious about learning, respectful of the profession, and willing to push themselves. If you value depth over shortcuts and want an environment that focuses on clarity, ethics and discipline, you will benefit from this experience.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

HOW TO THINK CLEARLY

Interns work on legal issues that require structured analysis, not just quick searches. You will learn how to break down problems and build a logical path to the answer.

HOW TO WRITE WELL

Drafting is at the heart of our work. You will learn to express ideas in clean, simple language and produce writing that reflects clarity and precision.

HOW TO RESEARCH PROPERLY

We spend time explaining research methods, how to verify sources, and how to apply case law and statutes meaningfully—not mechanically.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR REAL MATTERS

Depending on the team’s workload, interns may observe internal discussions, briefing sessions, or case reviews to understand how strategy is built.

HOW PROFESSIONAL ETHICS OPERATE IN PRACTICE

You will see how we interact with courts, clients and colleagues, and how ethical choices drive professional credibility.

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM INTERNS

  • Respect for deadlines and attention to detail

  • Clear, organised writing

  • A willingness to revise and improve

  • Honest acknowledgement when you don’t understand something

  • Professional behaviour and confidentiality

  • A disciplined approach to research and drafting

Internships can shape how you see the profession. If you come with curiosity, humility and seriousness, you will leave with a much stronger sense of how real legal work is done. We look forward to working with interns who want to learn with intention and grow with purpose.
